Discover and experience Umbria and Tuscany

“Discover and experience Umbria and Tuscany” is a project conceived by Maurizio (web designer and developer, based in Assisi) and Giulia (an Italian language and literature student at the University of Perugia). The objective is to promote and enhance the touristic realities and sights of interest of Umbria and Tuscany. Inside this portal, we have given full attention to the cities and towns of art, to sights of interest both for cultural and natural purposes as well as to typical products and handicrafts. But the portal finds its highlight in telling about the local people, whom, if met, could easily turn a pleasant vacation into an unforgettable experience.

The portal is divided into two main sections: Discover and Experience.

Discover

The objective of this section is to guide the traveller in his acknowledgment of the sights of interest, the people and the typical products and handicrafts of the Umbrian and Tuscan territories. Especially, this website will tell the visitor how art, handicrafts and food are part of the people’s culture and life: landscapes, cuisine and art change from town to town, from village to village, remaining unique and worth savouring each one at the fullest. “Discover and experience Umrbia and Tuscany” emphasizes especially the places, art forms and products still today unknown to the visitor, trying to promote the most typical and unique realities.

Experience

One of our tasks is to offer to the visitor who chooses Umbria or Tuscany as his destination the possibility to experience at the fullest all that the territory offers: events, special and unique hospitality, delicious and typical cuisine and guidance to the cities of art. This section finds its objective in guiding the visitor step by step, so that the trip can be planned in every detail and that a unique and unforgettable experience is guaranteed.

How the website is structured

Every resource is available as single descriptive sheets. Each sheet has to its left the main toolbar with the website’s main menu. At the centre the sheet contents are displayed and to the right the useful information (addresses, official website links, related topics) are listed. This structure guarantees an easy navigation as well as a deep insight on the argument.

The insertion of sheets with non-commercial perpouse as for example the description of cities of art, places of interest and products typical of Umbrian and Tuscan culture is free. The sheets can be inserted by both the staff or the visitors of this portal: they can suggest topics or insert information they think woul be of interest for other travellers. The commercial sheets (agritourisms, hotels, restaurants, tourguides, shops etc) are inserted under payment.

The resources and information undergo the staff’s supervision and approval before being posted. Everyone can suggest a new sheet by using our forum and posting utensils. The judgement and choice of the staff is final and criteria of acceptance are extremely rigorous, so as to guarantee the quality and final objective of this project.

There are various reasons and characteristics that make this portal unique. “Discover and Experience Umbria and Tuscany” is at the service of the visitor and traveller: it gives detailed and useful information on places, people and products of Umbria and Tuscany. This way we do not just publicise, but we underline the professionalism of our services and people and valorise their activity. Finally, the key to the success of this project is the fact that the people are the main character and they do not hide behind a simple brand: we show who we are, we show our face as the section dedicated to the people demonstrates. The staff of this website also has a sheet on the people section, so the visitor can meet and know directly the source of this activity. It is a step forward to a society where it is the people that count and they make their decisions, not the advertiser.
